Welcome to my Cross for LifeFlight Fundraising Page
Way back in 2007, during my senior year of high school, I was hit head on by a repeat drunk driver. After driving his truck up over my car, he simply left me on the side of the road. It took Skowhegan Fire Department and Skowhegan Police Department over an hour and half to cut me out of my car while I was completely conscious but unaware of the severity of the situation I was in. The paramedics worked fast to help keep me talking and more importantly calm (which is an impossible task!) during the whole ordeal.
After being stabilized I was quickly life flighted to Bangor where I spent a month in the hospital, seven of those days in ICU. To this date I have had WAY too many surgeries, have had my ankle fused, and will still need more surgeries in the future.
There’s no sugar coating it, without LifeFlight of Maine, I wouldn’t be here. You never know when you are going to need life saving measures. Please consider helping me fundraise for this years Cross for LifeFlight to help continue to provide lifesaving services to those in need.
Between August 1 and August 31, I will be doing my own Crossing to support LifeFlight of Maine, a challenge that will symbolize the difficulties of providing lifesaving emergency medical care to Maine's many island and rural communities.
LifeFlight of Maine is a nonprofit organization and the state’s only emergency medical helicopter service. With three helicopters, an airplane and ground ambulances, LifeFlight brings ICU-level care directly to the patient. As Maine’s only air ambulance service, LifeFlight has served more than 38,000 patients, one life at a time, from every community and hospital in the state.
LifeFlight plays a critical role in the “chain of survival” by connecting people to the care they need. People who live in Maine and people who visit Maine—including me—depend on LifeFlight to be there for them. I’m comforted to know that they’ll be there for me, and for my friends and family, should the unthinkable happen.
I’m going to make my crossing to support this important cause. Won’t you support it, too? Just click on the “donate” button. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much for supporting my efforts, and mostly, for supporting this critically important service.
